Post your written answer to your e-portfolio. (You will set up your portfolio in class 4/15 W).

Add 1) A title: Lesson 1: Introduction to Social Networks, & 2) Section sub-headings in your answer for Think, Explore, & Do. Please see this student sample answer for Lesson 1.

Update Record of Work. Please add Y for Yes, N for No (including incomplete) for each item in red text in the table.

Dear Social Computing Students,

Hello! This message is from Owen James, your Sophomore English teacher. Welcome to Social Computing (SCICU) for Autumn 2008!

To help us make a really good start to the course, I would like everyone to do their best to do these three (3) quick things before class on Monday, please.

1. (10 mins) Register for the SCICU D.I.Y. Textbook:

1. Go to SCICU Homepage. Watch video, 'How to register for DIY Textbook' (look left under Course Links).

2) Go to your ICU email inbox. Look for the SCICU DIY Textbook invitation (This invitation may have already arrived. If not, it should arrive soon. Unfortunately, I do not have control over exactly when the site sends it.)

3) Complete your registration as explained in the video.

4) Great, you are done!

2. Buy a USB drive (if you do not have one already): You can pick up a USB drive at any electronics store. 128 MB is fine and the cheapest. However, as always with storage, more is better, you can never have enough. Please bring it to every class.

3. Bookmark the SCICU Homepage (http://ojames.blogspot.com/) on your home computer.
