Lesson1: Introduction to Social Network

Lesson1: Introduction to Social Network

Nana Matsubara

THINK
1. I only recognize "You Tube" and "G-mail."
Social software offers online frameworks where people can share
information and interact etc.
What makes social software "social" is the presence of a crowd who receive
s information when sender puts outputs something online. There is a possibi
lity of reciprocal interaction created there.

2. Networks are various connections between people/objects/etc and social
networks are those that are created as a result of social activities of
human being

EXPLORE
- I cannot think of any particular examples.
- Some of the key words in the second video are visible/invisible.
- What seemed surprising are:
- the sum of My Space users accumulate to the 8th most densely populated
country in the world.
- currently, 1 out of 8 couples who get married originally met online in
the U.S.
- big social changes that are taking place now in general, such as their
career and college majors

DO
In the 3rd video, it is shown that our society is undergoing "exponential t
ime" of changes. I am rather unaware that it is happening and am not ready
for all those changes.
Living in 21st century, one does not seem to have a choice but to learn
how to use social software.
Acquiring such knowledge now, in particular for learning, will enable one
to utilize various tools in the future for whatever the works he/she
chooses.
